Before selecting a journal
Read the specific aims, scope and accepted article types. Check that submissions are open, the editorial board is identified and any fees, rights and review process are clearly stated.
Prepare the manuscript
Organize the research question, methods, findings and limitations. Check citations against their original sources. Prepare authorship contributions, conflicts of interest, funding and data availability statements.
Sensitive and regulated research
Where relevant, document ethics approval, participant consent, privacy safeguards and permissions. The requirements depend on the study and applicable institution and jurisdiction.
